CUMOR Celtic Origin

We live and breathe the our Psycho•Physical philosophy by baking it into our brand using a famous Celtic mythical warrior as our main inspiration.

The name CúMór is forged from the Celtic folklore story of Cú Chulainn (koo-KHUL-in), the fiercest of all warriors and greatest Irish hero. He 'pushed the limit' all the time and his deeds in battle are told to this day.

Born as Sétanta, he gained his better-known name as a child, after killing King Culann's fierce guard dog in self-defence and offering to take its place until a replacement could be reared, hence he became the "Hound () of Culann".

Cú Chulainn's deeds as a warrior changed the meaning of 'Cú' forever to a multiple of translations - ‘Great Warrior’, ‘Hero’ and ‘King’. Since then, if a warrior's (Man or Woman) deeds were considered worthy, they were nicknamed Cú as a mark of respect.

We endeavour to embody this Cú spirit and engage our inner warrior in whatever we do. To spur us on and push us beyond our own perceived limits.

Mór in (Cú-Mór) may translate as ‘Big’ or ‘Great’ so Cú-Mór can mean ‘Great Hound’, ‘Big Warrior’, ‘Great Hero’ or ‘Big Dog’, we good with all of them because they all are Cúmór!
