Cúmór is Irish Gaelic and forged from two separate words Cú and Mór and born form mythical legend. Cú was a name bestowed upon warriors as a mark of respect for their great deeds.

Roughly translates as:
Cú — Hero, Warrior, Hound or Dog

Earn your Cú in your fitness journey and be your own — "Great Warrior", "Great Hero" or "Big Dog".

When the mind is in gear with the right attitude and driven by a proper Purpose you manifest a stronger mental and physical connection.

Quashing the doubts (especially the inner ones), silence the fear (inner again), strive forward with confidence and do your thing. Walk tall, be bold and do what you want.

We believe all this starts with putting your gear on and we hope it really does when put Cúmór on.

Building a proper Purpose (in the Zone) and holding it throughout a session are learned. The mental preparation starts when you 'Prepare with Intent’ (the right Attitude) and then 'Train with Purpose' (the reasons why) - both are cognitive visualisation techniques in our unique online Psycho•Physical Training method.

What you wear changes how you Think, Feel, and Act.

Cúmór gear strengthens the Psycho•Physical Connection — giving you the Will and Power to push beyond any perceived limits.

This is where the scientific principle of Enclothed Cognition comes in.

Research by Hajo Adam and Adam D. Galinsky (2012) demonstrated that what we wear can influence our psychological processes — and that the effect comes from both physically wearing the clothing and the symbolic meaning we attach to it. Essentially programming or encoding the cognition.

What if we use this as strength?

Mind over matter if you will.

At Cúmór we we believe resistance training leads to stronger Mental and Physical Health and by simply wearing Cúmór you can gain more than you thought possible.

In the same way when you see the clock at the finish line you dig in, push through — finding the energy when you thought you were dead on your feet. This is the Psycho•Physical Connection. Visual cues — a design, a word, a symbol — can do the same prompting you to engage the right 'Purpose' the moment you need it.

Success is achieving what you set out to do and with the right Attitude and Purpose, anything is possible.

Add Psycho•Physical Visualisation Techniques to that, and there’s no stopping you. Professional athletes use visualisation to psych up for their sessions, sharpen performance — simultaneously training the mind along with the body and muscle.

Having the correct mindset is essential for enjoyable and productive workouts. Whether it’s to be confident in the gym, or to be brave to go for that one rep max, or dig in, — every mindset is learned and can be improved, changed or simply got rid of (if its a blocker).

Psycho•Physical Apparel starts the process and our online Visitation Training takes it further — if you’re up for it!

CUMOR Celtic Origin

We live and breathe the our “Attitude with Purpose” and Psycho•Physical philosophy by baking it into our brand using a famous Celtic mythical warrior as our main inspiration.

The name CúMór is forged from the Celtic folklore story of Cú Chulainn (koo-KHUL-in), the fiercest of all warriors and greatest Irish hero. He 'pushed the limit' all the time and his deeds in battle are told to this day.

Born as Sétanta, he gained his better-known name as a child, after killing King Culann's fierce guard dog in self-defence and offering to take its place until a replacement could be reared, hence he became the "Hound () of Culann".

Cú Chulainn's deeds as a warrior changed the meaning of 'Cú' forever to a multiple of translations - ‘Great Warrior’, ‘Hero’ and ‘King’. Since then, if a warrior's (Man or Woman) deeds were considered worthy, they were nicknamed Cú as a mark of respect.

We endeavour to embody this Cú spirit and engage our inner warrior (Attitude with Purpose) in whatever we do. To spur us on and push us beyond our own perceived limits.

Mór in (Cú-Mór) may translate as ‘Big’ or ‘Great’ so Cú-Mór can mean ‘Great Hound’, ‘Big Warrior’, ‘Great Hero’ or ‘Big Dog’, we good with all of them because they all are Cúmór!
